Tully – Success Story

Below is Tully’s story.

Tully is a lovely golden who developed an infection and kidney problems after neutering. Tully’s human parents went through a nightmare!

Fortunately, Tully is now happy and healthy!  Read his story here.

Before Tully Came Along…

We lost our old Golden boy, Buddah, in 2018.

As dog lovers know, to lose a do is as difficult or more so than losing a human family member. It is soul wrenching. I honestly thought at the time, I cannot do this again. My husband was so distraught that I didn’t think he would ever come out of it. He hadn’t cried this much when his own father passed away.

New Puppy, New Hope.

Months dragged on and we were told about a litter of golden retrievers. Reluctantly, I told my husband it was OK to ask about them. Of all the golden retriever breeders, it turned out that Buddah’s dad was the great grandfather to this litter. What were the chances? We took this as as sign.

In March 2019, we picked up Tully, meaning “one who walks in peace.”

Surgery, Infection, More Surgery, Kidney Problems = Nightmare

When he was about 8 months old we were advised to have him to be neutered. He had Cryptorchidism, a condition in which the testicles had not completely descended. So surgery was advised.

Three days afterwards, Tully needed an emergency surgery at a large hospital for a sepsis infection.

He was hospitalized for 10 days. Then home, then another emergency surgery. We were then referred to Tufts Veterinary Hospital in MA, which resulted in two more surgeries. Poor Tully spent five weeks total in hospitals.

However, he wound up with a damaged kidney – a lifelong concern.

Change Tully’s Diet, Change His Life!

I was advised that diet was key!

Then all roads led to Sarah Whitman, Dog Food Coach.

I cannot begin to express how kind and compassionate Sarah has been since first contacting her. With Tully’s story, Sarah guided me to kidney healthy foods, and support me through the process of “home cooking” my dog food.

Before Sarah, I spent hours and hours reading about dog foods and chose a kibble that I thought was superior. Today, I wouldn’t touch it.

Normal Bloodwork, Healing Body and Soul

After being on Sarah’s home cooked diet for a few months, Tully had blood work done and it was better than it had ever been. Overall better, kidney values were totally normal. This was the first time since before the surgeries.

A happy, healthy Tully.

We are so grateful to Sarah. There is no doubt that we will be feeding Tully this homemade food for the rest of his life. Today, Tully is a happy, healthy, playful boy with a sparkling coat. Thank you Sarah!
